Well, not really (to my knowledge at least), it's apparantly some method of using other species genetic material in conjuction with our cloning technologies. I don't really understand all this stuff, as I prefer just to shoot things (preferably from a distance), but apparantly it's resulting in more versatile clones being made.

You won't catch any "hybrid" Kuronoir clones though. Not because I'm bigoted, I have as much respect for the Foreans and the Brann as I do for my fellow soldiers. No, the reason why all of my clones will be Human is becauseit's our Humanity we're fighting for. Yes, we're helping the Brann and the Foreans to expel the Bane from their planets too, but one day we will push back to take back Earth, and no matter what happens during this war, I would like for us to return to our home as Humans still. To go be able to go back to our regular lives and forget this ever happend.

I know thast life will never be the same again, but the escapist in me would like very much for those who are permanantly scarred (mentally) by this war to be able to live in peace on Earth without the constant reminder of what happend.
Not me though, I'd like to stay on Foreas. Which is a shame, because I ship back out to Arieki tomorrow. It's a bit depressing to know that no new games are ever going to come out for me to play, at least not any time soon, but spending time completing every objective in Phantom Hourglass is a bit less stressful than being shot at 24/7.

I might spend a bit of time in The Swamp too. Regardless of what I do, chances are I won't have anything logworthy for the next couple of weeks. This includes the addition of a christmas hat to the free equipment requisition form for any soldiers who wish to get one. I also managed to requisition some red dye to give my armour a more festive feel for the next few weeks, before I revert back to uniform blue.

After quite a bit of time on the field here on Arieki I've managed to gather enough machine scraps to satisfy Mooch, the Brann who asked me to keep an eye out for them. Hopefully this will be the start of my improving relations with the local populace.

The Milatary Surplus has finally swung into operation too, and I have already pawned a whole heap of dye schematics I had been storing for just such a time. I've noticed a lot of soldiers seem to get a morale boost from having fancy-coloured armour, but I've always been happy with my uniform blue. At the moment it seems that the Surplus is only dealing in direct sales, but I hear in the future selling items by auction will also be an option. Hopefully this will create a much more stable base-line for soldiers to know what their spoils of battle are worth pawning for.

In the mean time I've decided against pawning my stockpile of upgrade components. The battlefield seems to be getting more intense, and I may end up needing to use a fair few of them myself. Better to hold onto them now, than to end out having to fork out credits for them later which I could be using on much needed ammunition and equipment maintenance. Upgrades may help me stay alive longer, but ammo and properly maintained equipment is what keeps me alive.

The majority of Omega Squadron seems to be on a different shift to me. It's probably since so many of them came from the United States, and I'm still doing shifts based on Australian time, to provide as little shock as possible to my internal clock. Being on Arieki seems to be good for that too, since it's December, yet it's incredibly hot. I was looking forward to hopefully being somewhere where it would snow during christmas for once, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen this year. Knowing my luck, Santa is a Thrax, and he's going to give me an armed grenade this year. I'd settle for a stiff drink though.

To any personnel who may review this log; seasons greetings from the front.

Cptn. The transfer comes as somewhat as a shock, as Arieki is vastly different to lush Foreas. Not only is the atmosphere difficult to breath with the Hydrogen Sulfide constantly being pumped into the planet's excuse for "air", but also Bane striders are constantly burrowing up from the ground and cutting through troops as if they were wet tissue.

The trip through the wormhole was as unpleasant as ever, at least this time I didn't drink before travelling. Despite having been here once before, the smell still near knocked me out upon arrival.

Arieki was a prison planet for a world that has since been conquered by the Bane, so as an Australian I can sort of relate to what the Brann here have to go through. The planet is just as inhospitable as my home country back on Earth too. I never got used to it despite being born there, and the sooner I manage to get myself transferred off this rock and back to Foreas the better.

The Brann (pictured above) creep me out a little. I haven't had an oppurtunity to get to know them yet, unlike all the time I've spent with the Foreans, so I'm not too sure what they're like yet. But the knowledge that this is a prison planet does make me a little hesitant of them. Regardless I have decided to start on the track of getting to know them by collecting shrapnel from the battlefield that one Brann seems to be interested in. Hopefully if I can get off to a good start with one of their kind, I should soon be able to get along with the rest of them.

No sooner had I arrived on Arieki that I was instructed to study several of the Logos shrines in the area. The most unpleasant experience of which was one that was located deep within a Bane base. After having studied the shrine, I went to leave only to notice the base's force-field had been repaired, and I was stuck in the base until another assault team attacked the base and, luckily for me, dragged my blast burn-ridden corpse back to an outpost for treatment... or so I was told. I don't remember anything after being spotted by a patrol group.

The CO of the Mech troops had me running around in circles too. Not only did I have to snipe down several predators, but he also had me skinning the scalps of thrax I killed for some unhealthy obsession he has. To top it all off I had to retrieve some skin mag he'd borrowed off the supply quatermaster before I could get the supplies he wanted me too.

Also had to run an update disk to the relay station a bit out from the penal colony. It had to be done manually so as to prevent Bane troops intercepting the new software version. Shortly after updating the station's software a lieutenant intercepted me and informed me he had been ordered to get a copy of the software. I assume it is for the other bases in the vicinity, so I allowed him to copy the upgrade.

To wrap up my duties for the day I also had to retrieve some valuable data that had gone down with one of our dropships. A Lightbender overseer was already at the site when I arrived, so I had to kill it in the off-chance it had managed to retrieve any of the crucial data.

Things are a lot more intense out hereon Arieki, even the dorms feel like the prison that they are. I've only been here a day and I already miss Foreas. But at least I'm away from the Cormans and their damn coffite. Now if only I could find a tavern around here.

Cptn. I was working on my medical studies with some Corman scientists, and liasing with the Foreans on the medicinal properties of the local flora. Shortly after I had submitted a report stating our progress in developing a cure for the plague that seems to be going around, I recieved a radio transmission from AFS command instructing me to rendevous with an officer, priority one.

This was a bit of an inconveniance as I had just started out on delivering the cure we had worked on to several doctors, but an order is an order, so I met with the officer (pictured above). As soon as I met him, a Thrax officer appeared and demanded I hand over the cure samples I was carrying.

I had little choice but to flee the scene, but I must wonder why I would recieve a priority one radio message from High Command that turned out to be an ambush? Could it be that there are spies infiltrating our command at a higher level? Is it possible that some of the higher ranking personnel could be machina?

These are unsettling thoughts, because I always blindly follow orders without question. If some of these orders are coming from Bane operatives, I, and hundreds of other soldiers, could be playing into the Bane's hands. However I am but a low ranking specialist, what position am I in to decide whether the orders I am given are actually going to help the AFS?

I have little option but to continue following orders, except now I fear I may begin seeing Bane plots everywhere. I should probably talk to Doctor Williams about this, perhaps it's just some neurological flaw caused by the cloning process.

Cptn. It also doubles as a tape player... although everyone who brought tapes from Earth had horrible taste in music.

Forean Sky - I still find myself looking up a lot. The Foreans are so nice.

Base Water - Seriously... why is it yellow? I have no idea what this guy is doing. As this area is supposedly said to contain several Eloh artifacts I was dispatched to see what the disturbance was, since I was the receptive soldier unlucky enough to be passing through HQ at the time. My timing has always been bad.

I arrived to a welcoming party of Forean machina... Gods I hate machina. Some Thrax joined in the ambush too, but along with a couple of other soldiers that had been dispatched we managed to take them out without too much difficulty. After finding a Logos shrine in the area, I found a dying Forean who asked us to save a Forean patrol that was being pinned down by Bane forces. We rescued them easily enough, but our success was short-lived, as we were greated by Bane artillery as we approached the landing point. I regret to report that the Forean patrol did not survive the harsh fire before I managed to disable the artillery.

Regardless, I still had my orders to examine any Eloh artifacts in the area, and destroying a Bane teleporter along the way, so as to cut off their supply of reinforcements, I proceeded further, facing more machina, Thrax, and these strange altered Miasma I had never seen before.

While I did learn three new Logos glyphs during todays mission, I fear that this information came at too great a cost. There are always casualties in war, but it doesn't make it hurt any less when soldiers you're supposed to be escorting fall in battle. Damn these Bane.

I hear reports that AFS command is in the process of finalising the paperwork required for the numerous Military Surplus stores to commence operations, and I am looking forward greatly to that day. In the heat of battle I do not have the time to be finding which soldiers need what, and it is wasteful for me to just throw all the useful items I find on the field away. However my AFS issued footlocker is starting to get pretty full, especially since now Ebonii is using it too, and this service will allow me to finally get all the items I have collected out to the soldiers who need them. Who knows, chances are someone will have found some items I need.

Cptn. A homanis machina of perfect design, so good that from the outside appearance one could not tell it was a mechanically reanimated corpse, wandered into Alia Das. It then began a repetative vocal attack that although not fatal, caused great discomfort and annoyance to all around.

Many recruits began to fire on the machina to silence it, but it's regeneration abilities were far superior to any machina we have witnessed before, and our combined fire would not damage it. After many soldiers contacted High Command, a high ranking officer arrived on the scene, and used a portable waypoint device to remove the machina from the outpost, hopefully into the line of mortar fire, or somewhere equally unpleasant.

Afterwards I got into I conversation with someone who had played on of the games that I... Ebony had played on Earth. We discussed our memories of the game for a while before he had to go off to sleep before his next duty shift.

Personal note: It is awefully confusing knowing I am a clone. I have all these memories, and all this knowledge of Ebony's past life, but at the same time know that the memories are not my own. As well as confusing, it is a little distressing, but I understand that we need all the manpower possible to win this war, and am working hard in my medical training to do my part.

Cptn. I showed a couple of new recruits the ropes. The recruits were some of the fellow Earth survivors I know, whom are currently in the AFS 3 day trial recruitment program. They aren't exactly used to using firearms, and constantly being shot at, but I hope that by the end of their time in the AFS they decide to stay on in our fight against the Bane.

I approve of the AFS' trial recruitment program. We get a lot more recruits than we would if we just offered the straight up five year service contract, and while not all of them stay on, we do need every person we can get in this war.

I managed to pass the tests of another of the Eloh temples today. It feels kind of strange how merely looking at Logos is enough for me to understand their meaning, much as one would read plain English (or whatever language they may read). I still feel a bit weird when the non-recptive soldiers ask me to translate a message here or there.

I seem to have bad timing with the dropships. I arrived in Foreas Base today in time to hear a message addressed to Omega Squad, but was not close enough to any speakers to hear it clearly. No one else seemed to be paying attention either. I haven't received any radio transmissions, so I'm going to assume it's not important, but it would be nice to know what the announcement was so I can pass it on to the rest of the squad.

I found the service pathway up to the spotlights on the Foreas Base observation tower today. It seems to be a good sniping point. Should the base ever come under assault, and the Bane manage to breach our forcefields, I now know the perfect spot to provide cover fire from.

AFS Command has approved the dual-use of this log file, so from now on my clone Ebonii may be making entries in this log too. One of her logs follows.

Cptn. In both of the Eloh Temples I visited, I failed the tasks set before me. I shall attempt them again in a few days time, but for now I have started helping out the local Foreans with several tasks involving fighting against the Bane.

I am gradually gaining more members into Omega Squadron, a few of whom are clones, including my clone Ebonii, whom is now a Specialist. While we don't perform that many duties together as a squad, being able to keep in contact with other people while performing our duties on Foreas is proving to be a good morale boost.

Some of these larger squadrons, or "clans" as many troops are beginning to call them, seem to be developing rivalries. I personally can't understand that. With the Bane begging for our blood on a daily basis, and with all manner of native wildlife being fiercly territorial, the last thing we remaining Humans need to be doing is fighting amongst ourselves. I feel that a fair few troops need to focus their agression more against the bane, or by drowning it in the killer moonshine they serve at The Swamp. After a shot of that, you'd be lucky to even lift a gun, let alone point it at anyone.

I've promoted a couple of squad members. I naturally promoted Ebonii to Commander, sure it may be favouritism, but I'm pretty sure I know how she thinks. I also promoted another member to Lieutenant, as he's been an active member, and has even helped out with recruitment.

Unfortunately I died again today. It's never pleasant, and I'm glad there is counselling for it. The feeling of naseua after the field medics revived me is almost as bad as the pain of being shot at by an entire base full of Bane at once. AFS troops had been successful in defending one of the entrances to Krimm Base from a Bane assault, but as we rushed to defend the other side the force field fell and Bane troops flooded into the base. The Bane managed to gain possession of the control obelisk, but my fast action was able to immeadiately reclaim it. Sadly it was not fast enough. Several Bane dropships had seen the signal, and unloaded more troops into the base. The remaining AFS soldiers, myself included, were soon overwhelmed, and the Bane reclaimed the base once again.

I don't know how my body wound up at Concordia from there, but I remember wishing I'd stayed dead when I was revived. Ressurection Trauma is really not pleasant, and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. I really need to be more careful though. One of these days my body may not be retrieved fast enough. I don't like dying in this war any more than anyone else, and I certainly don't want it to become permanant. Even with a war raging around them, and even though they fight, they still take the time to care about the balance of nature around them, something we Humans would likely never consider.

Even the temple acolytes, who should be in training, are prepared to rush off into the battlefield to do their part too, and for that they have my respect. The Cormans could certainly learn a thing or two from the Foreans. Peace and balance is all well and good, but when someone kicks you, you kick back. I seriously hope the Cormans realise this some day and add to our numbers among the AFS troops who are out there every day, putting our lives on the line.

Also, when all this over, even if we reclaim Earth, I think I may stay on Foreas and tend to the treebacks. I managed to further the AFS' relationship with the Foreans, by gaining there trust, and being permitted entrance to three of their Eloh temples. Although I have only completed the test of the first temple, I shall examine the others tomorrow.

I did not fully comprehend the power of the Logos until today. The power that coursed through myself and my weapon as I used the rage technique of the Attack and Enhance Logos, it was like nothing I had ever fealt before. I was also able to tear through the Bane I faced today a lot faster than I had ever imagined possible. Now that I'm truly beginning to understand this power that the Eloh have given us, I feel a renewed optimism that we can defeat the Bane.

My scientific escort mission went well, despite regular interuptions from swarms of warnets. Unlike the surge of Logos power, the surge of a warnet's lightning sting is not in the slightest bit pleasant. The treatment the field medics give me to recover from the stings is even worse. This is probably the main reason that the warnets are my least favourite of the native species on this planet.

I spent a great deal of time looking after treeback herds for the Foreans. The Bane apparantly have plans to attempt to use these docile beasts as a source of labour, and I intercepted one of their troops attempting to take some of the younger cubs away to this end. I also had to feed the herd, and heal their patriarch whom had wandred into Bane territory. Despite all the farm like work, it was a pleasant change from the stress of the front lines.

On the subject of stress, I met a despicable coward of a Forean today. He had the nerve to ask me to tell his brother that he was dead so that he could avoid having to fight the Bane. Of course I told his brother the truth, and he seemed grateful to me for doing so, and rather disappointed in his brothers actions. This is the second Forean I've met who's attempted to avoid their combat duties, and despite being reprimanded for my actions regarding the first, I still feel that I am right in disliking these individual Foreans. We are in a war, and we must all do our part to fight against the Bane.

Of people who've done their part, I was saddend to see some of the best troops of the Foreas lie dying at the site of the shard impact. They were not the first to die in this war, they will not be the last, but I will do my best to remember them all the same.

Cptn. The Bane attacks in Concordia were especially aggressive and they gained significant ground. They managed to recapture both key control points in the Plisades region, and despite our best efforts, we were unable to wrest control of them back.
Many good troops died today.

To further irritate the matter, the Bane managed to recapture Purgas. This is incredibly close to both a Forean village, and a Logos shrine that many of our receptive troops pass through Purgas base to study.

I can't believe it's a Sunday. One loses track of time when every day is a life or death struggle. It seems a bit unfair that "weekends" are a thing of a past, and days of respite are few and far between. It's days like today that I'm especially glad of The Swamp's presence on Foreas Base. Sure the service may be terrible, but stress relief is stress relief, alcoholic or otherwise.

I have an escort mission scheduled for tomorrow. It shall prove to be somewhat difficult, as I will have to trek through Warnet infested land. I hope some of the other members of Omega Squadron are available to lend a hand.

To help with the personnel shortage problem, I have agreed to undergo the cloning procedure. It really is a bizzare experience, watching yourself age from child to adult before your eyes. My clone, aptly named Ebonii, is currently undergoing retraining to become a medic. I wish her/myself (or whatever the applicable term may be in this case) the best of luck in this pursuit, and hope that my clone proves to be of significant use to the AFS.

Cptn. All went well with the exception of Purgas Station, which had been retaken by Bane forces before I got there. However AFS troops were successfull in resecuring the base with only minimal losses.

From Purgas I then snuck a GPS beacon to the nearby Predator launch pad to co-ordinate an Air Strike on this important Bane facility.

The rest of the day was spent in counselling with Doctor Williams, followed by off-duty time which I spent in The Swamp.

Cptn. Since bug repellant is not included in the standard military supply kit, I can only assume this is some sort of punishment for my interfering with Forean matters earlier this week. It'd be a lot more bareable if the bugs here only bit, instead of blasting me with spasm-inducing electricity.

Despite the bugs, I successfully managed to recover a lot of valuable resources from the wreckage that the Warnets now make their home, including a stranded scientist. Unfortunately I have not yet been successful in completing my orders to earn the Forean Wardens trust so that I can enter the Eloh Temple.

During my duties in the Palisades I stopped by a base the AFS had successfully captured from the Bane, and had to help defend it when the Bane attempted to reclaim it while I was resupplying and maintaining my equipment. Fortunately for us the Bane built this outpost with defence in mind, and we had very little trouble holding it against their attacks.

I went to Arieki to report my progress on my Logos research. Fortunhately the wormhole trip was uneventful. I also spent a short while providing cover fire from the sentry tower outside the base, but was forced to retreat when several Striders started converging on my position. I shortly returned to Foreas, as my abilities are much better put to use there.

I've been given command of the Omega Squadron. Currently there are only three troops in our group, myself included, but with time and continued service, chances are my responsabilities will grow.

Cptn. The climactic part of it was when I got promoted. I am now an AFS Ranger. Since we're in the middle of a war there wasn't much of a ceremony, but this new job comes with many benefits. One such benefit I immeadiately took advantage of was that I can now requisition Stealth armour from the supplies. This will benefit my sniper training greatly.

I spent a great deal of time fulfilling my front-lines obligations today. With many other troops at my side we successfully managed to deal a significant blow to the Bane troops, taking out several of their Tesla Coil weapons, infantry units, and those accursed machina. However my time on the field was cut a little short when we were ambushed by two Predators whose patrol route crossed with our location. I have scheduled some time with Doctor Williams for Death Counselling this weekend.

While on the front lines I also took the oppurtunity to sneak into the Bane base in the Divide, and plant a beacon for our cannon to target at their Predator launch pad. While that will have upset their launch schedule for a while, it did not do anything to stop the Predators already on patrol who would ambush me and the assault team later.

The Bane continue to futiley attempt to take Foreas Base, and I helped take out several troops as they were drop-shipped in. It doesn't seem all that strategic to me, sending such a small armed force into the enemies base of operations. In my opinion they may be up to something, or it may be some for of distraction.

Cptn. Not only did Earth get attacked by the first alien species we’d ever made contact with, but then I get told I’ve been chosen as one of the people who’ll be evacuated via worm-holes. To top it all off I then learn I’m receptive to an alien technology/power we call the “logos”. To think that just a few months ago I was sitting in my house, playing Guild Wars seems all too far away now.

It’s not much of a life anymore. The Bane are constantly trying to kill us, the Army food is terrible, I’m not even going to get started on that “Coffite” stuff, and the hussy of a bar-maid at The Swamp tavern is always too busy chatting up the male clients to serve me. At least with the Bane around I have something to take my anger out on.

In the time I’ve spent with them I’ve grown kind of fond of the Foreans. It upsets me that the other troops think of them as little more than tree-huggers. I hope that one day they do decide to officially join the AFS. In the meantime I will do all I can to stop the Bane taking their world like they did our own.

I’m slowly training up to one day become a Sniper, and have been getting a lot of practice in at it while defending the Hydro Plant. The frequency of Bane attacks there is ridiculous, and our resources are stretched enough as is without having to constantly repair the damage they inflict to our defences.

Cptn.
